One looked at previous coronaviruses (SARS, MERS-CoV, and HCoV) and was peer reviewed, the other one looked at this coronavirus specifically (COVID-19) but it was only published a week ago and hasn’t been peer reviewed. That second study found much shorter times (it found that the virus can survive on plastic and stainless steel for up to 72 hours and on cardboard for up to 24 hours) but I wanted to steer on the side of caution. But also, now you have all the information so you can decide for yourself! A post shared by Mona Chalabi (@monachalabi) on Mar 17, 2020 at 2:50pm PDT
