ENGL 102, Section 006, Fall 2021 Instructor:Jim Landers: Thesis Statement and Research

Thesis Statement and Research

Research comes before thesis statement. Do not create a thesis statement and then say, "I need 3 articles to support my thesis."
Your thesis statement should come out of what you find out about your topic through your research and your thoughts and reasoning about your research.
Do not make your thesis too specific too soon. It will make research much more difficult.
Start with a topic and tentative thesis and make adjustments as you learn more through your research.
